Hi! My name is Blake Ochoa and I competed in LD at Lake Travis for four years, I bid to the TOC my senior year, placed 14th at NSDA Nationals, 6th at UIL State (Lay Texas State) and was 12th speaker/reached dubs at TFA State (Progressive Texas State). I debated a couple of different styles but the files I am uploading here are cases that were meaningful to me. I became a K debater primarily because I had something I wanted to say and finally found a way to make people listen. So, if you find yourself in a similar place and my cases can help you in anyway, don't hesitate to take from these and contact me. I care about debate and want to make it a better place so I will happily help anyone who wants it.

Queer Theory
Affs- The Archive This is my favorite thing I ever did in debate. It explores how making queer injustice visible allows queer folk to address grief and loss in a positive way, embracing the inevitability of queer violence. The topical links are the only thing that really change but I wanted to give multiple examples of what links might look like.
CW for all versions- graphic descriptions of queer violence
Jan-Feb 2017-18 Resolved: Plea bargaining ought to be abolished in the United States criminal justice system. This one has different/sassier narratives than the others.
Nov-Dec 2018-19 Resolved: In a democracy, the public’s right to know ought to be valued above the right to privacy of candidates for public office.
Jan-Feb 2018-19 Resolved: The United States ought not provide military aid to authoritarian regimes.
Mar-Apr 2018-19 Resolved: The United States ought not provide military aid to authoritarian regimes. Unbroken
Negs
So most of the topical links I would use for these were the same as the aff on the topic, so the file has the card I used to justify performative links, my impact/ROB and the two alts I would read.
The Queer Politics alt is the alt I read in most outrounds, including the bid round, at churchill (when I bid)
Latinx CRT
I didn't read LatCRT my senior year, but I was nonetheless very proud of these cases and the message behind them is very personal to me. I just chose to specialize in QT so I could streamline my research.
Affs
Sep-Oct 2017-18 Resolved: In the United States, national service ought to be compulsory. This was my first real K aff, so it's pretty rough, but here it is for posterity. The part of the performance that isn't cited was written by me.
Nov-Dec 2017-18 Resolved: Wealthy nations have an obligation to provide development assistance to other nations.
This is the case I am really proud of between the two.
Negs I only did these for one topic, so I'll just leave the links in this time.
Sep-Oct 2017-18 Resolved: In the United States, national service ought to be compulsory.
